Concerns about COVID-19

Landon Athletics Statement regarding the Coronavirus

Public Health Field Members would all agree that during any health scare, it is very important to stay calm, listen to the facts, and not get caught up in media hype. Misinformation, fear and panic will spread faster than any infectious disease outbreak. The one important statistic to watch out for is what is currently happening in your specific area. I encourage you to visit www.cdc.gov or your local health department websites for true, accurate and current information.

In light of the Coronavirus, is Landon Athletics still having practices, meets and camps?

Yes. Landon Athletics is not planning to cancel any vaulting events. As always, members are encouraged to take responsibility for their personal needs and to act in their own best interest. Please check our website and social media frequently for additional practices that we may be adding.

What if I am ill or caring for someone else who is ill or at high risk?

We all must take personal responsibility in containing the spread of Coronavirus as we have done each year with other viruses. This is the flu season. Think about what you would do if you found out that one of your family members had chicken pox, whooping cough, or seasonal flu. You would all take precautions not to spread the disease to others. The same applies to the current situation.

It’s important to know that people over 80 years old who have severe underlying health conditions are at high risk and will have a difficult time fighting off this disease. As always, anyone who is ill or facing a grave life circumstance should not be out in the public and is asked to not attend public events, including Landon Athletics events.

What is Landon Athletics doing to help with the spread of the Coronavirus?

We will be wiping down surfaces more frequently and encouraging others to do the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. (Hand washing: Clean Hands Save Lives) Use 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact such as kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or shirtsleeve, not your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
